This exciting Clicks launch is the next step on Dr Birnie and the Altruist team’s mission to provide affordable, high quality sun protection, as a direct response to the rise in skin cancer around the world.

Altruist was created by Dr Andrew Birnie, consultant dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon based in Canterbury England. The sunscreen was created with the aim to reduce the incidence of skin cancer through the increased use of high-quality sunscreen and better education and awareness. Altruist was launched by Andrew and his friend David who met in South Africa in 2010 whilst learning to surf the warm waves of Durban, South Africa. Altruist has gone on to be one of the most recommended sunscreens by dermatologists in the UK and loved by thousands of people around the world. We are delighted to now be launching in South Africa, where the concept was first conceived.

Dr Birnie commented: “I see and treat skin cancer patients every day and the Altruist range was developed to help combat the increased incidence of skin cancer. I wanted to develop a low cost, high quality, range of products that removed the barriers to using SPF sun protection.  We know that people use too little sunscreen because it is expensive, so we keep our prices as affordable as possible.  This new listing in the country where the Altruist brand has been conceived will help even more people access our products and protect themselves from sun damage.”

‘We are delighted to welcome Altruist into our stores and into our ever expanding beauty offering. Our customers love discovering new products and Altruist’s affordable pricing is perfect for our shoppers.’

Altruist believes in giving back too, with 10p worth of sunscreen from every Altruist product sold donated to help improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable people with albinism in Africa.  The launch into Clicks will help protect even more people.
